Apparel Design

For this project, I designed team jerseys for my slowpitch softball team “Bunt Force Trauma”. After years of playing together and becoming more competitive in our league, tie-dye tshirts weren’t cutting it anymore. It was time to look more serious while still showcasing the fun nature of my team.

The biggest challenge came from the name itself. “Bunt Force Trauma” lends itself to aggressive imagery, and while our team is competitive, we aren’t aggressive. To solve this, I used the concept of head trauma and dizziness as the design’s throughline and pushed it in a playful direction. The lettering mimics the look of when 3D glasses are misaligned. The palette is high contrast and easy to see even from the outfield. The details of the sleeve and dizzy softball face contribute to the lighthearted look of the design.

The jerseys have been a huge hit within our league, consistently receiving compliments from our opposing teams and umpires. Most importantly, my teammates love them.
